Updated: Aug 16, 2019

Heyhey Guys and what's up TFS!

LETS TALK!

We have another project per request from the girlfriend lmao.

Well not technically 😉 but when she is away, its the perfect time for, "lil baby who don't listen" to play. *insider* 🤣

We're Making An, Easy Diy Tv Console.

Lets Create Something!

First thing first, we have to run to Home Depot so let's get some supplies together.

Before we get started let's give a huge shout out to,

for inspiring this project, those guys rock!

You can follow those guys on YouTube for more crafty Diy projects.

Now, let's get rocking because I'm rolling.

You should have something a little like this.

Start off by taking 2 of the 2x12x14-1/2 pieces and stand them end up.

This is the the easy part. Now place the 2x8x48 across the ends. This will line up your lumber for you.

FunTip: Be sure the ends are flushed. (In other words, lined up.)

You want to secure them down with 2-1/2" screws.

FunTip2: Always pre-drill holes prior drilling in screws. One of two things will happen, your nail either wont make it through the lumber, or your going to make it through and risk splitting your lumber.

4 screws should be more than enough to secure your lumber. Secure one screw into each corner of your 2x8x48.

FunTip3: Take your measuring tape and mark off the middle of the 2x8x48. This is to be sure that your last 2 x 12 x14-1/2 is centered.

Step 2:

Grab that last 2x4x14-1/2 and those 2-1/2" screws and get to drilling.

FunTip4: Purchase an Impact Drill &thank me later. This definitely should have been tip #1 🙃 those 2x4's vs your drill's bit, is no match. I lost about 3 of mines allowing my bestie to help out lol.

Step 3:

Grab another 2x8x48 and lay it across the top and secure down with some screws. Once thats completed you can flip that bad boy over and repeat step 3 until you have a box kinda. 😏

Step 4:

Take a step back and check out your work.🤤 Not to long tho its much more to do.

Grab that 2x4x42 and that 2x4x5-1/2 and get ready to finish off this bottom. Yes I said," bottom". I also said its much left to do so hurry up bast in your glory and catch your breath.

Step 5:

Take a 2x4x42 and lay it across the stand.

Be sure to leave a 1" over- hang on the front (gap/ space) and center it so that your sides are even.

Once you have that completed, secure it down with some 2-1/2" screws.

6 should be more than enough.

(one on each corner & 2 in the middle or 3 to a board if you prefer th term better lol.)

Step 6:

2x4x5-1/2 you're up. Place those little guys up against the ends of the 2x4x42 ( in other words line them up) and secure them down with 2-1/2" Screws.

Line them up

Secure & Repeat step 5 to complete your under side.

Step 7:

Check yourself out! You're rocking and rolling now! Look at what you achieved!

Flip this bad boy over and start pumping yourself up to sand down your master piece. Dont forget to do the 2x12x40.

FunTip5: 60 grit sand paper will line up any of those un-even ends with your orbital sander. If your palm sanding (like I did for some hard to reach places that my orbital sander couldnt reach) have fun my love, but 220-320 grit will work wonders for a smoother touch.

Fun Tip 5.5: The lower the grit number, the rougher the grit. The higher the number, the softer the grit! Work on this, you don't want to risk your lumber being to sanded down then it may round off your project, and we don't want that.

Step 8:

Wipe down your sanded piece and add on some paint or just a poly finisher.

I decided to go with some stain paint.

Don't forget about that 2x12x40 that's left over there.

Add some Stain/Paint to that as well nce you're done sanding down everything!

Fun Tip6: If you're using stain paint, try applying pre-stain to the wiped down project, and then start applying your stain. Dust will stop your paint or stain from adhering so be sure to remove all dust before completing this step.

If you're using stain paint, try applying pre-stain to the wiped down project, and then start applying your stain. Dust will stop your paint or stain from adhering so be sure to remove all dust before completing this step. Pre-Stain is Optional, however, it will apply a smoother finish for your stain paint, and some woods like certain pine wood, won't allow stain pmto adhere without a pre-stain.)

Step 9:

Don't get to pumped lmao! I mean at this point you can be and deserve it, but its still work to do!

we need a top piece don't we? I mean at this point you can just leave it like this and add on some wheel castors and BOOM! its a toy chest for the kids. However, we're making a Tv Console.

You're doing Fun-Tastic , no worries, no sweat.

After you've waited the appropriate wait time for your stain or Paint and your poly finisher to dry, its time to attach our top piece.

Take 2 of the floor fanges and place them on the ends of the 2x12x40.

Give them 1" of space

and centered on all sides.

Once that's completed, screw them down with some 1-1/4" screws. Don't forget to pre- drill first.

FunTip7: Space is limited you may want to use a small screw driver like a baby sized one to help reach those tight places. You can place your flanges where ever you may like, it is your tv console after all.

Step 10:

Screw on the pipes and other two floor flanges and then decide on which side will be the front, and which side will be your back side, of the tv console.

Flip your 2x12x40 lumber, over on top of your stand and line it up with the edge of the back board. You can put it anywhere that you would like it to be, just be sure that its centered and evenly spaced on both sides of the flanges.

Be sure to Mark off the location points.

I unfortunately don't have any picturues due to me rushing because my girlfriend got back to the city early. I ended up not painting the bottom due to lack of time lol but, the great thing about dateing a DIYer, you can do it whenever you want to.

FunTip8: Remove the top and pre-drill the location of the flanges marked holes, (where your screws will be screwed in at) with a marker, pen or pencil. This will save some time and frustration just be sure to mark off your drill bit with some masking tape so you can be sure not to drill to deep through the lumber.

Step 11:

Place the top back on top and line it up with those marked holes and secure down with some 2 -1/4" screws.

FunTip9: Use that tiny screw driver that we mentioned earlier in Fun Tip7 to secure down your top piece.

Step 12:

Step back and admire your hard work!

You have officially completed your very first, "Fun MASTER PIECE!" Thanks
